“Dear John” Topples “Avatar” as Top Weekend Movie
The romance “Dear John” took over the No. 1 at the weekend box office from “Avatar,” which had been on top for seven straight weeks.
“Dear John” (Sony/Screen Gems) which stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried and is based on a book by Nicholas Sparks, took in $32.4 million at the box office, according to early estimates from Hollywood.com. The movie had been panned by critics; at a recent public screening in the New York area, the crowd booed at the end.
“Avatar” (Fox) brought in $23.6 million for No. 2; “From Paris With Love,” (Lionsgate) an action film with John Travolta, grossed $8.1 million for third place. Read more
EA Sports FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Footy fans to imagine themselves a series of football world, you only get that the recently announced spin-off of EA Sports FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Published simultaneously on the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and Wii, this special episode – only once every four years people! – In the current franchise from EA features of all 199 of the final 2010 World Cup national teams and all ten of the official South African event stadiums. There is also an online-enabled World Cup mode where one team wear (dibs on Brazil!) And the progress in preparing for the final.
Wii players get “an art style that cultural vitality is the first FIFA World Cup held in Africa, celebrates” (yes, pretty much, is it like a cartoon look) and their own special game mode Zakumi’s Dream Team, where The players take their custom teams and virtual teams on the road against the 32 participating World Cup teams. Apple Introduces the iPad
Apple has done it again, bringing the world to a stop with their latest release which is the iPad. At the end of the post, this could very well be the iPhat – short for iPod touch Phat, since it is more or less a much larger version of the iPod touch albeit with a far superior processor as well as better hardware specifications. First of all, what does the iPad offer? This device is meant to sit right in between the laptop as well as smartphone categories, boasting Apple’s very own 1GHz Apple A4 processor to get you up and running. There is also a huge virtual QWERTY keyboard that appears on the screen for you to type all your emails, but it remains to be seen whether the layman can get used to such a setup assuming he/she has already gotten used to the regular QWERTY keyboard after all this while. Nokia N900 Mobile Computer Phone Review
Nokia does not want you to call the N900 as a smartphone. According to the company, the Nokia N900 is a mobile computer. Running Linux Maemo 5, the Nokia N900 follow-up of 4,1-driven Maemo N810 Internet Tablet provides the Web as you would expect on your computer, including Flash support 9.4. This device is also full of high-end specifications, including the Cortex-A8 processor and 32 GB of memory. However, the N900’s less-than-intuitive interface and bulky design is probably the most serious Linux geeks goal break.
Hardware manufactures the N900 is a solid device, but with 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.8 cm and 6.4 grams, it is relatively large and heavy. The smartphone competitors actually the HTC HD2 (4.7 x 2.6 x 0.4 inches, 5.5 oz) in size, but the phone has a much larger 4.3-inch screen and no physical keyboard. Read more
