David Beckham to miss World Cup with Achilles injury

David Beckham will miss this summer’s World Cup finals after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon that could threaten his career.

The former England captain limped to the touchline close to the end of AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo last night. He was carried from the pitch and left San Siro on crutches. He is likely to be sidelined for at least three months, with Milan speculating that he could be out for twice as long.
